Welcome!

Do you want to increase your marks in HSC Biology or English? Do you find Year 11 and 12 Biology too content-heavy? Is English just something "you're not good at"? Need a tutor who is actually passionate, experienced, and supportive? You’re at the right place!

About Me: Biology

- BAND 6 BIOLOGY STUDENT 2023
- A recent graduate of Baulkham Hills High School (ranked 3rd in the state, 2022)
- Ranked top 10 overall in Biology internally, and often ranked top 3 for individual assessment tasks and exams!
- I personally taught a Year 12 Biology class at Baulko, lecturing in Genetic Diseases and Disorders.
- I am an aspiring Medical Doctor and am a scholar of Immerse Education Medicine Summer School with several letters of recommendations from Doctors and Medical Students around the world!
- A triple science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) student with a multidisciplinary understanding of sciences.
- I have 3 years of experience in Science, Mathematics and English tutoring.

What I Offer:

- Comprehensive HSC Biology tutoring that explains the syllabus in detail, allowing you to engage with the content in a way that is intuitive to you (and not just how the textbook lays it out)
- Tailored lessons to match your learning style and pace
- In-depth explanations of complex topics using past papers and my own unique questions that test your understanding (and not just memorising skills).
- Practice exams and test-taking strategies
- Flexible scheduling to suit your needs

The Biology Syllabus is becoming more advanced, where low-yield question types such as regurgitating facts are in the Band 4-5 region. The biggest reason I predominantly teach Biology is due to it having the highest enrolment rate (around 20,000 in 2023!), making it much harder for you to distinguish yourself. Hence, If you want to Band 6, don't miss the chance to excel with a tutor who is passionate about education and specialises in Biology. I can strongly attest to the fact that just because one does well in a subject, does not automatically make them a good teacher—yet with my experience and passion, whether you need help with understanding complex concepts, want to improve your exam performance, or need someone to support you in your HSC journey, I'm here and capable to help you!

HSC English!!
I am also offering English tutoring for Years 7-12!

- HSC EXAM MARK = 95/100, OVERALL = 94/100

Here are my raw marks:
Paper 1 Section 1, 19/20. Section 2, 18/20
Paper 2, Module A, 20/20. Module B, 17.5/20. Module C, 17/20

- I was ranked in the top 25/200 in HSC English Advanced overall. I ranked top ≈10 for the HSC English Trials. I often ranked first for individual assessments and was a leading lecturer for HSC Engish Module C with my own, original material, 'How to Succeed in English's Most Difficult Module', which was highly rated by the Baulkham Hills community.
- The texts I teach:
Merchant of Venice (Common Module)
Keats and Bright Star (Module A)
An Artist of The Floating World (Module B)
Past The Shallows (Common Module)

- What you'll get:
- A top English student's mentoring and advice for your high school English journey
- My personal assessments that got me first in my grade and my in-exam essays that secured me a high rank in trials!
- My personal annotations of text material from university lectures, scholarly articles, etc, that will allow you to stand out from all others!
- A bank of essays from other state-rankers and selective school exemplars on your text!
- Advice on your essays with 24-hour support. I know how it is to be late up at night trying to perfect your paragraphs--and I'm here to help!
- My original exam strategies and advice that was highly commended by HSC English Teachers at Baulko.

Hi Jos! I was looking for an English tutor and you seem like a good fit, but I have a few questions... I am curious if you are also willing to teach Year 11 English and Year 12 English even though I did not do any of those texts? Additionally, just to confirm, you're first in the grade for Baulko? That's really cool.

Hey man,

Happy to answer your questions. I am happy to do that for sure (just let me know the texts). To confirm, I was not overall first in English (sadly). I ranked overall in the Top 25. However, I did come first in certain assessments as I mentioned above (the first common mod assessment. I got 19/20 wihch was first in the Merchant stream, and for Module C Trials I got 15/15 which was first in that subsection.) I hope this makes sense and that it wasn't too misleading.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Hiya, thanks so much for the quick reply! Good rank despite not being first though! And amazing marks! This might be a bit of a stretch but because I didn't see it in your post but do you also offer tutoring for English Ext 1?

All good, happy to help! I did Ext Eng in Year 11, but not in Year 12. Not sure if I would be the best fit because I haven't touched/worked with the rubric in over a year.

Hello Jos, I was wondering what your mark for Biology was and what was your raw ATAR? Thank you!
