DMB Fan, good taste in music. The Chili's are my fav. band so I kind of HAD to do one of their songs, and why not a classic form their best album. Are you doing the solo Frusciante does, or just basing it around E?

I'm just basing it around E....MORE FREEDOM!
At the moment im doing fruciante's solo cos its sick, (im struggling to get my pieces perfect) might change it a bit if i have time. great song

Nice pieces chizm!
Wish I had the time to throw a repetoire like that together for the HSC.
Becker does indeed own.
I'd love to play a George Bellas piece for the HSC... the guy's technique destroys, have you guys seen videos of him?
Ohh well... maybe if I end up doing the HSC again one day haha :)

i'm a vocal major and i'm not really happy with my choices but they won't let me change so if anyone could give me some feedback on the songs im doing that would be nice heheh thanx

1. don't leave me this way- thelma houston
2. killing me softly- roberta flack (last minute choice don't hate me for it hehe)
3. almost like being in love- natalie cole
4. the special two- missy higgins

also does anyone know what the standard of vocal majors are like in nsw? im in a class of five vocal majors and i think theyre really good but i dont know how our class compares. we all got in the 90's for trials but maybe its just our teachers.

all piano stuff

I played:

Sections from Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique - 1st mov.
Sections from George Gershwin's "Rhapsody In Blue"
Rachmaninoff's "Prelude in Gminor"
Percy Grainger's "Colonial Song" <-- nice piece, by an early Aussie composer!

Hope I did alright. Hope EVERYONE did all right!

Hey all.. for my trials i originally played 3 songs on bass and sung one.. But ended up changing two the week before..

-aeroplane - chili peppers (bass)
-pasta blues - joe pass -(bass)
-it had to be you - harry connick jr/franksinatra(voice
-empty chairs at empty tables- les miserables(voice

as we don't really have that great male vocalists at my school, my friends volunteered me to help them out with...

all torn down-living end,
nothing else matters - metallica,
heaven on their minds - jesus christ superstar,
pardon me- incubus,
light of the world - can't think of the musical atm..
a friends original- my friend

Hey does anyone out there play sax? Alto, tenor, sop., bari....doesnt matter.
Well, i do.
My pieces will probably be:
MILHAUD: Brazilliera.
COLTRANE: After the Rain
and
HARTLEY: Petite Suite (one movement, not sure which)
I am also thinking of swapping the coltrane with an Andrew Robson tune, but im not too sure if i will be able to transcribe it coz it is technical to the max and robson is awesome

I did mine a long time ago, and I can't remember the order in which I did them:

Corner of the Sky (Schwartz) - core
Improvisation (Quah) for piano
Muse (Quah)

I did Nessun Dorma (Puccini) in my trial, and another original composition, and I scored 82/42 for Music 2 (Perf.) and Extension (Comp.)

Word of advice - do Composition for both Music 2 and Extension, and get a start on works Very early. Performance is too stressful when you're studying for other exams.

Oh yeah, and get a start on your performance stuff with plenty of time to go. I was still looking for a performance piece 20 minutes before the exam.

instruments: acoustic guitar and vocals

- missy higgins - scar
- radiohead - karma police
- radiohead - fake plastic trees
- the superjesus - so lonely (didn[t play guitar in this one)

I reckon I stuffed up a bit though
the guitar was too loud in scar, someone turned it up really really loud!!
just after we'd had all the levels perfect for all practices

I edited V-Techs original post, you didn't see what he said. Even you Joe, would have been offended.

I am one of you, even though I'm a mod, it doesn't mean that I'm not. I'm currently in the process of writing up sheets and stuff, notes etc. for the forum, so just because you can't see the work, doesn't mean I'm not doing it :)
