I know I have to do all 6 pieces. So everyone else probably has to do all theirs too. I have all mine, I'm just having issues with program order.
These are my pieces-

"The Lost Sailor" -Christopher Bowen
"A Bit of Earth" from The Secret Garden -Marsh Norman
"Poor Wandering One!" from The Pirates of Penzance- Gilbert and Sullivan
"The Prayer" (Actually singing it properly, as a DUET!) - David Foster and Carole Bayer Sager
"Mein Glaubiges Hertze" ("My Heart Ever Faithful")-Bach
"Voi Che Sappete" from The Marriage of Figaro - Mozart

But the Bach and the Sullivan can't go together, and neither can the Sullivan and the Mozart, or the Bowen and the Norman. And I want to do the Sullivan last.

When trying to decide my order last year, my teacher told me to put the pieces in an order so that you won't get tired halfway through the program, ie. don't put 3 pieces that require a lot of energy next to each other, have 'rest' pieces in between. And always end with a big bang :)

Last year, I started off with my Bach, and then followed it with my Carl Vine piece and it worked really well. So in a way, it doesn't really matter about putting pieces of completely different periods next to each other -- contrast is good actually.

Hope that helps somewhat in choosing your orders :)

is it normal that we are not performing our entire repertoire for our trials? we only have to perform electives 2+3 for our trials (we just had elective one assessment task and have had core performance and core viva assessments already)
Yep. That's what we're doing too.

Personally, I think you can do without the whiny Celine Dion song. Otherwise, the program looks very sturdy, with a good range of styles.

The whiney Celine Dion version of The Prayer is exactly that. Whiney. I'm doing a different version, a lot more difficult than hers.
Plus I need and ensemble piece...And I love singing soprano/tenor duets!
The duet gives me a bit of a break from more demanding pieces though.

Gday all!

I play guitar (PRS all the way woot)

I do music 1 and I'm going all performance... doing:

- "The Hunt" by Tommy Emmanuel

- "Find the Real" by Alter Bridge

- "Treat Yo Mama" by John Butler Trio

- "Red House" by the master, Hendrix

Red House didn't seem to work in school though so I'll probably replace it. I'm thinking "Down to the Waterline" by Dire Straits

Good luck to all ...not long now!!!
