so im getting one for chrissie (i have to pay half) and i have no idea what they do besides store a shit load of songs...
what do these things do??? help me out!

But its a music player...thats really what they're designed to do.

I dont think so. You only need 3rd party apps to retrieve your mp3s.

You can set it though iTunes to allow the iPod to store files.

yeah itunes comes with the ipod u purchase. you need a usb 2.0 pci card or a firewire card connection thing if you wanna transfer music though. im not really sure if the newer comps have them installed or not though.

yeh we have an e mac at home and it runs an i pod im sure(good old i tunes )... but yeh im not sure about file saving and stuff... what are the diff sizes of memory on the diff ipods and how many songs do they hold? im not going to go the biggets one i think...is that 60gig?

normal ipods come in 20gb and 40 gb models but of course its going to cost you more if u want more space

60 gig one is the ipod photo with the colour screen

you must also remember the bigger you get the heavier it is (by a little)

around 4000-5000, assuming around 4.5 megs a song
that is if you rip everything at 192kilobits mp3

but you sould use acc anyway, so you could prolly use lower bit rate and fit more songs.

i download off lime wire and most of the songs are 128...

why would u want a dodgy ipod? lol
u sed u use it to transfer between home n school, i never seemed to be able to transfer stuff to another puter that doesnt have itunes installed on it? mayb i just screwed my ipod up too much lol
