Not strict at all for id on uni days. But for big parties (ie heaven and hell, oktoberfest etc) if ya don't have id you have got no chance of getting in.

with most functions at the roundhouse, they usually have bouncers giving arm bands to people that are 18+, but I've never seen anyone checked for ID during uni days

Never ever checked and I have yet to see someone get checked. With the exception of ticketed big events where bouncers are at the door.
