Hay,

I'm new to this forum and site but it seems extremely helpful. Im in yr 11 right now but moving into yr 12 very quickly. I've had to make subject choices recently(which i can still change) but i have a few major problems. Firstly, im doing 14 Units ( yes this seems crazy but i will drop down to 12 Units very soon). I am currently thinking of doing 4 maths, 4 english, 2 physics, 2 chemistry and 2 economics ( very crazy in deed).

My first problem is whether i should do 4 english, it seems hard and the competition seems stiff but i enjoy english and i get good results (so far), could any body who has done 4 eng or is doing it give me some websites or ideas of past works so i can see the standard of work?

My second problem is my choice between physics and chemistry, I most likely have to drop one of these. I am average at both, have an average 'enjoyment' of both so its fairly hard for me to drop. Could any former or yr 12 students help me here? are the physics and chem tests based on more explanation or more maths? personal comments?

well thats about all i need to know, if anyone can be bothered to give me some useful websites, information or just personal comments on my subject choices plz do so... fanx

well, at a 4U eng study day I was shown www.write-it-down.com

You could also purchase the best major works on a CD-rom or book.

Good luck and most importantly HAVE FUN! That's what the major work is about!

PS. If you think that 4U is a handful, keep your options open by having more units than you need to.

umm yeh the BOS has like publications of written major works ... *shrugs* i don't really see how it would help you realise whether or not u wanna do 4u though? if u do 3u english already, u should be pretty much all set on 'standards' n stuff.

oh but i guess school has started so you've already decided on your subjects and crap?

and umm i used to do phys and chem but i dropped both of them. cos i realised i hated science. but. i've heard that that chem's easier in year 12, than phys is. i dunno why dun u talk to ur science teachers or something?

but u should do 4u even if you're just thinking maybe. cos u can always drop it later, u can't pick it up.

Look behind you
Drop physics, you already do enough maths and you don't need more to hinder your performence.

Next take a good long look at what you want to do after school. If it doesn't involve math, drop down to general and concentrate on english.

Personally, I think your a little insane to take 8 units in only 2 subjects. You'll burn yourself out man.

Hey all im new as well

And like mraverage i too am in year 11, and was thinking of doing exactly the same, problem was i found no use for maths in law or web/grafix design and so i dropped down to standard maths and took up ext2 eng and i say it is the best thing i ever did ( except for Ext His, which is the best subject in my opinion :D )

But yeah if you enjoy creative writing and have a flair for it then i guess youll love it :D

I sure did
