this is actually quite old news, and those of you affected havent probally noticed the small changes that have already been made - though, i dont think at this stage anything major is going to change.

i know its old new, they recently acquired ie. 28th Feb, they proposed ages ago is probably what u meant.

iinet will be one of the first companies in australia to open up ADSL +2 to the consumer - but I'm not sure when this will come in to play. They *reakon* they'll get speeds of up to 40M/bit ps - it seems insane.

ozemail was on sale since last year for $50 million
which is relatively cheap considering the american company which bought it out during the internet boom in australia was a sum near ten times that amount

EDIT: sorry i missed a zero hehe

105 million after deductions of fees etc.

i heard i heard iiNet over valued the company, which many other contenders only pricing at somethinglike 70-80 mill.

i'm with oze.. there are no changes so far...
but i wasn't looking forward to the acquisition...
cuz right now, they don't shape our usage. i'm on the start 300mb plan, and i've never been shaped... now it looks like i will be shaped at 300mb!! :( oh well!
