rahul, connecting to ... ?

A) irc server
B) file server (fserve)

for A: /server <server name>
e.g. /server irc.efnet.org

for B: type the person's trigger
it could be !Rahuls-Illegal-DLs

if it's not a file server, and if it's one of those "mp3-sharing" channels, then you might want to ctcp/msg them for their xdcc list ... ONLY if it is an xdcc bot.

to do this,
/ctcp <bot name> xdcc list
then you'll see their pack listings,
grab whatever file by typing /ctcp <bot name> xdcc send #packet number here

e.g. /ctcp Rahul xdcc send #3

if it's anything else,
then again ... sit there, ask for help (if it's not moderated), then wait for the triggers or advertisements.

(hope i havent confused you!)

in summation,
for servers: /server irc.whatever.com (for example)
for file servers/fserves: type their trigger e.g. !Rahul-is-cool
for xdcc bots: type /msg (ctcp will work, depends on the bot) <botname> xdcc list -- for a listing, for requesting packets, see above.

for other mp3-servers, then they might be using tdcc or other forms, so watch out for their triggers.

ryan has summed it up if you're in a mp3 channel,
@find rahul's favourite song
check your private messages/window
copy/paste the trigger, or get into his/her file server (dos commands, ls, dir, help, exit, get, read, sends, queues, etc)

or paste it in the main chan (if allowable) and wait for a slot (or get in a queue).

if it's too complicated ... then stick to what works for you :)
(p2p; kazaa lite as i've read in your other posts)

hope this helps :)

hehe.

well, ezzy85's post will be useful.
but if you want to see all the chans available,
just type: /list

if you're looking for particular channels,
you can try searching e.g. /list *mp3*

but yes, ezzy's post will be useful to you, if you know what you're after, etc :)

aria came around to check out usyd last i heard
cause of all the mp3 downloads and traffic being racked up,
plus people hosting files, distros and generally setting up their own servers, etc.

but not at unsw as far as i know.

not that they would have any reason to but ... *looks around* :D

where abouts do you get stuck?
if you're already in someone's file server, as you've said (with the files listed), then you'll be able to move in and out of directories and queue/request files.

the basics,
!trigger
opens up a dcc chat window, from here it's like dos.
type "ls" or "dir" to list directories

e.g. to get into \mp3\rahul\
type:
cd mp3
cd rahul

to go back a directory,
type: cd..

then you'll be able to type dir to list more files in a given folder,
once you know what you want,

type "get <filename>"
e.g.
get rahul - i love school-YEH.mp3

note, that spaces are usually replaced by underscores (usually :))
i hope that's where you're getting stuck.

man i fink FundIng to stop piracy is pretty stupid. well like its okay i guess but shouldn't they spend their time on matters that really count? Like drug dealers and things like that? how many of those do you see nowadays and nothing ever happens to them. People who roLl others on trains or whatever, its pathetic i think. The system sucks. They just trying to work on things where they don't get hurt physically, 2 scared to do the tough stuff they signed up for i guess.

Im not saying catching piracy is a bad thing, im sayin work your way down, from the things that threatens lives and Sh*t then slowly move ur way down to other issues.
