Just to add: IT is generally a well-paid industry as they're paying above average salaries to attract people into the industry (there is a skills shortage). I think the average salary after graduation was $45k+.
You should do what you want. That said, IT is a pretty broad field and as such you'd probably find something within it if you have a 'general interest'.
As for well paid...project managers and business analysts are two 'softer' IT disciplines in demand and well paid. I think there's something on Hudson that actually break it down into the various disciplines...
