Well considering 0411 changes to +61411 in Australia then I am guessing 0011 would change into whatever China's cellular code thingy is.

For example if you SMS to Hong Kong and the mobile number is 90105318, you type +85290105318. There is no need to include 0011 since mobile is using different system to the homeline phone. Likewise to make phone call from your mobile to overseas.

Hope this helps :)

I sent a message to my friend in Sweden couple of days ago and I was on the phone with him. He got the message almost instantly, even quicker than local SMS. Maybe there was some network problems in China at that time??

http://sms.ac/d3fault.asp offers free SMS, havent used it before though

My friend went to Thailand and he got something for his phone,
so I just message his normal number and it works. I think it might be about an hour delayed. I don't know if that helps.

Yes it is really free, but it lacks support for a lot of phone carriers.

Try using smspup.com.au its free to all phone carriers in aus, as well as it displays your real phone number :p

Actually, do I also have to include the area/country/region code or is the above example sufficent?

Depends on where you SMS to but if you are SMS to Hong Kong, the above example is sufficient. I think in most countries, there is no need to inculde area and region codes, only the country code is required.
