fair enough then I suppose. It's good that different unis still have different admissions procedures. Like JCU not using the UMAT but doing interviews on their own. Gives more people a chance.

yes i am.. im in 1st yr adel..

1 yr not yr 1.. lik take 7 yrs to do a 6 yr course..

yr 1, yr 3 and yr 5 are the hardest years to pass with ~10% repeat rates
they are barrier yrs..
yr1 - first time in uni and self learnin is hard to pick up
yr 3- cos u go clinical in yr 4.. and they need u to be competent..
yr 5- cos there is no more exams in yr 6 in adel because u just go out and do projects and presentation as ure assessment..

damn 5th and 6th yrshav told me this.. its fairly reliable.. cos it was told to me while we were still sober in rural SA..

lol sounds good! I don't really mind about it being challenging, thankfully. I prefer a challenge to something I can kinda breeze through.

yeah lower at monash at least...there were 2-3 students who failed last year and they were all international.

lol i wouldnt put it past them~~
but i dunno...from experience the interntionals are not as cluey as locals because of language barriers...so it makes sense that they would fail

Hey guys!

Newcastle offers are out, I got another interview offer in the mail today.

Too bad it's scheduled to an hour before I'm supposed to finish my Biochemistry exam.

Anyone else with good news from our little satellite city to the north?

No I got three offers last year (Newcastle, Adelaide and Monash) but I was struck off the list when my UAI was released. Now I'm at uni and ineligible for Adelaide and Monash, trying to get offers from UWA, JCU and Newcastle. Hopefully my uni marks will pull me through. :)

oh dear, and i thought the purpose of umat/interviews was to let the really dedicated people get through, and "uai isn't an essential requisite" pppfttt

i know UNSW needs a uai of 95+ but i would've thought you couldve gotten into UNCLE? what's their criteria for medicine entry?

I think you're a little confused. Newcastle interview offers are out. If anyone talks about offers regarding medicine around this time of year they mean interview (except for the graduate schools, but you guys don't need to worry about those).

Anyway, the UAI matters a bit but not much. It made all the difference for me because mine was very very bad.

Yeah I know it's the interview offers. I got offers from UNSW, Monash, and Adelaide so I would've thought newc was in the bag. Bugger!

Late post, but anyway, repeating what everyone else said, Monash and Newcastles' interviews are out. I think I'm one of the applicants on Newcastle's and Monash's list with the lowest UMAT raw score/percentile who got the interview. I got 185 for raw and 242 for percentile, so if you got above that, assume your mail is late :D

Good luck!
