Since its the last year we are not gonna get the default questions like "What is a star network topology" and "Give an example of an application level protocol". I think they're gonna try integrate questions more with AI and emerging technology (like the catholic trial for 2024), and expect a lot more application rather than memorizing definitions. I also feel there will be a lot more changing nature of work, as well as social / ethical issues rather than standard IPT syllabus content. Still a couple of DFD's context diagrams, and decision tables but the scenarios will be geared toward emerging technology.

each 10 mark core question you should aim to do about a booklet, about a page or abit more should be good

Depends, I normally write a page and a half if its only a 5 marker on one aspect(like one part of the content), but if it interrelates multiple content aspects such as backup procedures and social/ethical issues, I spend more time on this and go around 1.5 to 2 pages(my handwriting is a little big).

yea but I write really big so I only average like 4 or 5 words a line, and sometimes I cross out a lot so it really is around 1.

I mean I still get full marks so I ain't complaining.

also keep in mind that the sample answers under the marking guidelines are sometimes and most times not worth full marks. So don't rely on them and think that just because you got the information in there it doesn't necessarily mean that you got the full marks. We found this out when our teacher who is a hsc marker said that the markers don't really use the sample answers because they're mostly mid to maybe low-high range responses.

Interesting because my teacher is a hsc marker, said that the sample answers will hit the full marks, the problem is that you have to hit all points on the samples, if you don't you won't get it. What happens alot of the time is that people do not hit the full points on the sample, you can't expect to get full marks if you're giving 80% of the sample.

I don't think the sample answers are elite but I doubt they are low-high - mid responses, they probably just hit the full marks.

I have always felt like sample answers are a bit random or inconsistent at times. I normally try to just address the question and write as much as reasonable for the amount of marks. I gotta make sure I use examples because I forget to sometimes :/

i recommend looking at past sample answers for ipt to see a general understanding of how much you write. problem is i yap alot and when i mark my own work it is basically the same as the sample but way more detail. I also tend to not use keywords so any tips for short answer?

You don't have to use keywords but make sure your answer makes sense, if your yap is meaningless and doesn't drive the point home what's the point

theres a document called syllabus specifications, i reckon go thru that + read the syllbus to know some key terms

Yeah what susu said: learn your syllabus specifications.
When you see the question in short answer, you wanna know what topic its talking about and the terminoligies that are associated with it.
You can't go wrong talking about data or the information processes. For example, if we're talking databases then you wanna know that relational databases are made up of entities, attributes, and relationships. If you don't use those terms, I can't say for sure that you would be able to get full marks.
