Hi there everyone, being on irc for majority of the time im online, and being an active memebr of #hsc the BoS' official irc channel, i thought it would be a good idea to form a little get together for those who are interested in japanese language. so with a few friends from #hsc we created #nihongo.

Now my offer is that id be more than happy to get lexi, jbelle and others to be ops in there as a way of helping those people out in real time

Well, I've never actually used IRC before, so someone will have to help me out. Might go get that mIRC thing (never bothered) or can I do this through Trillian?

you can do it through trillian as well but mirc would be best so i can auto op you in the channel along with jbelle

when you get it basically

put in a nickname, pick "austnet" as your server connect, then type in "/j #nihongo"

Well I've got mIRC running now, and I've figured a bit out. Nobody in there right now though.

Your instructions (the ones you posted about entering nickname, then server, then nihongo), didn't work for me.

Then you should know how to get in?

Just connect, and join the channel #nihongo (however you would normally do it). You must be connected to the AUSTNET.ORG servers (the same as BoS' own #hsc channel).

For those who wish to learn nihongo but do not wish to do it in classes or whatever situation, #nihongo will be starting lessons from today.

just get yourself in irc, #nihongo @ austnet

and come stay for a chat and then download the lesson files and learn in a fun atmosphere at your own pace.
