yeah seen that before.... except the one i saw looked way cooler... but still its pretty shite.... read sig... its reassuring to know that theres a higher chance of a teenager giving birth than me dieing of a smoking related illness... or even contract HIV... or maybe getting an abortion. it was depressing the amount of money spent on dieting.... they should put that money towards 1) the obvious, 2) the other obvious one or 3) spend more on their illegal drugs and forget theyre fat all together (makes me proud to be a cynic).

....your all insignificant... the hsc is just another way to delay your realisation of this.

I'm not over the HSC, I'm over english!! I hate it! I hate it! I hate it! Whoever devised the english syllabus and made english compulsory should be shot. Seriously, who cares about the different view points of an imaginative journey? How is that ever going to help anybody in real life? It shouldn't even be called english, it should be called trivial studies. English doesn't even test your abilities in english, it tests your memory and if you have alzheimers, like me, then you're screwed! I haven't learnt one thing about english in highschool. I'm gonna leave school not being able to spell and not knowing what an adjective is but i'll know that Coleridge was a freakin weirdo who enjoyed imagining things...great, I hate you Coleridge.
NEVER in history have truer words been said. :haha:

I think the BOS should read these posts, and listen to our pleas!

im so frikkin happy ya'll feel the same bout this crap. it's taken over everything in my life --- i have no idea whats happening on neighbours anymore :( i used to be really smart and really care about school & just study 24/7 but the hsc has pushed me way too far...i honestly do not give a flyin f*ck anymore, and instead of actually liking school and enjoying learning, i feel like they've robbed me of that...ive been wanting to go to uni since i was like 5...i knew what i wanted to do, and up until like last week it's been my major goal...but i'm done with it. Like memorising the goddamn tempest is going to change my life. shakespeare was flyin high when he wrote that crap. i cant wait for this whole year to end, which is really sad coz i'm 18 & i'm supposed to be livin it up...right when im sposed to be trying really hard i'm officially giving it up. im sick of listening to adams song & staring like a retard at a computer screen trying to decode these stupid marking criterias and doing 57 assignments at the one time...while working, socialising and being with my family...F*CK THE BOARD OF STUDIEZ

'You are not an individual snowflake, you are the same rotting, decomposing matter as everybody else, you are not special'

... we're all just lil worker ants really. I'm not going to finding a cure for cancer, therefore my UAI is pretty much obselete.. just gonna end up with a minivan and a mortgage like everyone else.
Ah harsh depressing reality.

Ok this is my first post since i joined BoS, Yes that was last year, and i have to admit, this is one hell of a thread to bond with fellow pessimistic and rebellious students.
Most of the ideas discussed in this thread are quite true -regarding how the HSC is F***ing overrated. Most of the subjects are pretty much useless in reality. Like who's goign to need to have prior knowledge about bloody exponential functions, kings of Persia, critical English studies like postmodernism - will they help you get chicks? (okay maybe it will for some guys, but not the majority).
1. Teachers add to this ... misery - they emphasise how you have to do well in the HSC to get a high UAI and become some rich ass bastard living in a 90 story house. Conversely, those who are not doing so well, are told to get a move on or face relegating comments to make you feel even more like a worthless piece of crap - 'YOU COULD'VE DONE BETTER'. Furthermore, there is the occasional threat by the authoritive principle who threatens students doing bad by 'I'LL CALL YOUR PARENTS, AND SEND YOU A N-AWARD'. Like do we need to get told off for not being bright? THERE ARE PEOPLE IN SOCIETY WHO ARE NOT AS BRIGHT, I SWEAR. Even this 'N-award', it's like commemorating you're intelligence - by that i mean having an IQ like Paris Hilton, add salt into the wound please!
2. Parents. Yes, the biggest problem of all. They force you to study, they tell you off when you're bludging, they blackmail you for better marks, they practically make you feel like shit. THEY TELL YOU THAT DOING WELL IN THE HSC WILL GET YOU A BETTER FUTURE. WRONG. I SAY.
Even during those years prior to year 12, they tell you off to study for those exams that are not relevant for the HSC. Yes even in primary, even in year seven. But of course, you would need the fundamentals of english, maths, science but still. Why did we bother with the other subjects? Let alone strain ourselves more than enough?.

But as a message to all y'all and a message to myself.
The HSC is JUST ONE way to be successful and the most common. But, Increasingly, the most successful people will knock out those people who are disadvantaged out of their place in the sun. see this article
http://www.usyd.edu.au/news/84.html?newsstoryid=1875 - seems like society is getting smarter - for those who are smart.

So therefore, ponder . ponder . ponder . The HSC ain't the only way. I SAY -
SUFFER NOW AND BE REWARDED LATER - remember to look towards the end of the tunnel, the bright, luminous end. Though it is dark and gloomy now, i't won't be once you reach your destination. (FFS THIS IS SOUNDING LIKE THE ENGLISH PHYSICAL JOURNEYS RABBLE RABBLE)

yeh most subjects are useless in life beyond the HSC but there are a few that will help you no matter what career path you choose to take e.g Society and Culture :D

And I'm sure ppl who do subjects that are perceived to be intellectual subjects like 4U math will help them get girls ;)

lmao me and my friends like the rest of you i imagine spend more time bitching about the hsc than studying

example. 1/2 my modern class came over the night before trials to 'study' after going through one dot point we sat in my room until 11pm comparing how much we are all going to fail and trying to blame evrything and everyone else besides ourselves

the HSC is disturbing and the UAI even more so.

i cant believe that EVERYBODY including ourselves place so much emphasis on the ability one 4 digit number has to 'change our lives forever........ooooh'

everybody has built the hsc and uai up so much...........imagine in 5 yrs from now kids will have to walk around with their uai tatooed on their foreheads lol

Because everyone's sole purpose in life is to 'get a chick'.
