everybody ive known to get uai's of 99+ have had absoluetly no social life during their HSC year (anybody feel free to correct me on this) and then once theyve gone to uni or whatever the amrk toatlly doesnt count for anything anymore? so what im asking is it really worth giving up your social life just so that you can say you ended up in the top 1% of the state?

Reasons why I picked 'Yes':

- With the UAI going up each year, it's only going to get harder in the future to get 90>
- With a high UAI so many doors open up to you
- You can stooge it off to all your friends...well, they shouldn't be your friends for too much longer
- You can strip down and walk through mainstreet with nothing on but a placcard saying 100%
- You can drop out of USyd Laws and start the next Oils
- At parties you can walk up to women and go: "So, 'hun, have you ever been 100% satisfied. Awwwwwwwww, yeaaaaaaaaah"
-------restart of seriousness-------
- Personally, I'm really not too bummed about being a hermit, My Precious (Gore Vidal) was a hermit for well over 15 years, and look how he's turned out!
- UAI is proportionate to effort, no matter what anyone says. For all the people I've talked to, who were successful in the HSC, they're all said that Effort was the greatest subject they had:

* For those of you, like me, who have a problem with consentration, you should try talking to 'Eagles' he has plenty of killer quotes - ask for Og Mandino

- I see getting a good UAI as a way of saying goodbye to a great 13 years at school
- I've got plenty more...I'll give you others a chance to catch up.

yes totally

you dont have to work too hard to get good marks.
if you want excellent marks you just work abit harder, its not going to make you a social retard - if you have a few hours to watch stupid tv shows during the week then you have a few hours to go to a party on saturday night. choose to study instead of watching the latest summer/seth drama on the oc then go out on the weekend.
ANYWAY totally worth it - if you have to be a social retard so be it because in...what is it now about 200 days it'll all be over and you can make up for your lost social life all the way through to jan 1st 06.

I've known nerds who had no social life change to being the biggest party-ers once they reached uni. You can always wait unitl you get to uni I guess.

Generally, if youre a social retard in yr12, youll still be one at uni. (eg. NTB) OR alternatively, if you are a social retard andan intellectual retard, youll still be one at TAFE. (eg. BreaKing)

how could u miss it!
Because its shit?

Oh, and yes, it would have been worth doing a little bit more work rather than procrastinating for 2 months solid prior to the HSC, because then I wouldn't need a D average to get into the stream I missed out on by 0.3 of a point.

The key is balance, if you study like crazy chances are you're going to over stress and panic. For now, i reckon an hour a night is quite enough (depending on if you do a lot of hard subjects). Obviously as the hsc loom closer you would need to increase it. Every so often you need to unwind with a few friends (just don't binge so hard that you lose braincells by the billions). This way you won't stress out and start crying during your trials.

The key is balance.

i start crying over my crappy marks jago! have i started a bit too early?? :p

nothing beats good chatting with friends to unwind yourself. make sure that you don't deprive you're self, or you will regret the fun that you could have missed, when you were determined to study but then ended up watching tc or something.

I think I started a bit early for all my crisises too D:

But seriously, the HSC is only one year of your life - I believe put in a bit of effort but dont become a relcuse! There is a life after the HSC and there are so many different ways to get to where you want to be.
Theres no point in not socialising, if youre only doing all the work to get a mark to get into Uni. No one will want to put their life on hold for all of Uni and if the course requires that much study for you to get in, then realistically it will probably require all that work when youre in it.

I think just be realistic with your goals and balancing your life, definately try to not stress as much, and of course good luck fellow 05ers!! :D
