hey well we got an assessment asking to design a brochure advertising a exhibition titled "journeys in the 21st centuary"
the purpose is to illustrate the significance of journeys to contemporary society and to explore the ways in which they can shape our thinking in the new century.
The purpose of the brochure is to advertise the exhibition through the use of visual and written language, illustrating to your imagined audience the spirit of the journey. Although written text will be necessary on both sides of the flyer (including the logistic details of the exhibition), your composition must predominantly exploit the power of meaningful visual language with respect to the expression of a central concept. Students are encouraged to examine some authentic brochures in order to develop a clearer sense of the nature and features of this text type.
The brochure must include a 200-word supporting statement promoting the nature and purpose of the exhibition. This supporting statement should be positioned appropriately within the brochure. It must be written for a general audience and should promote some of the various exhibits that will be on display at the exhibition in terms of the guiding concept. The supporting statement for the exhibition will double as your academic rationale for your composition.
In terms of composition, students can use a range of different images from various sources. Remember that it is your ability to construct meaning through language that is being assessed, not your inherent artistic capability. Ultimately, you will be assessed on your ability to use visual and written language appropriate to a particular audience, purpose and context.

Well, first of all, it sounds like a dumb assessment. A brochure??

I guess you have to plan the brochure first, because you will have about six columns to fill with words and pictures.

One side of the page will have:
- title page
- 2 back pages, usually with contact details and boring stuff

Other side will have the interesting stuff.

It would probably help to know what kind of journey you are studying. For example, if you are doing physical journeys, you could have the exhibition about transportation in the 21st century. Inner and imaginative may be harder, but I haven't brainstormed it as much as you would have. An exhibition about imaginative journeys in the 21st century could be about the new technologies that allow people to go on imaginative journeys and the resultant experiences, e.g. video games, tv, youtube!!

Anyway, if you could describe any ideas that you have had, that could probably help narrow down the design of the brochure.
