Say for some reason i can get Usyd or UNSW for combine law, but i am a science/commerce person with not too much interest in law, should i still go for the combined law degrees to distinguish myself from other science/commerce graduates?

And can i just get the bachelor degree for law and get honours for science/commerce degrees to be more specialise with the stuff i am good at.

Does it matter if i don't get good in law but just get a pass to get the bachelor degree? Would it be a waste if it matter if i studied law in the first place?

for commerce, then a law degree may distinguish you from the thousands of commerce graduates per year... however, that said, a pass-average law degree doesn't look good on your CV anyway... it would be a waste to do law just coz you got the marks and you're not interested in it at all. however, if you have got a high UAI and want to be a distinguished commerce graduate, may i suggest something like coop program?

for science, i disagree that law will help distinguish you because science and law are quite different fields (unless you are talking about really specialised law+science stuff). it is better to save your time and effort, get into USYD's TSP program, get Honours and get your PhD asap.

lolz... tha'ts cuz accting is really wtf'ed all the way =p

wohazz, i won't recommend you to do anything that you are not interested in.... because you are more likely to do well in the things you enjoy in... and situations change.. you neva know what's the society likie in the future 10 or so years... you may be graduated wif a law degree, but the the shift of tide can cause the demand to drift...

aniwaz, you can always do graduate law, if you are realli interested in law...

hence, do sci/comm... like me =p

Hmm.. hmm... hehehe bit naive.

First of all. If you're a science person as frigid said yea masters then PhD. Ie. doing PhD at Oxford is a million times better in terms of respect than doing law at USyd. Yesterday I was studying health enhancement and yea, the most important part for success, is that you are good at it (duh) but mainly that you enjoy it. Anyways. Thats not the point. Law degrees these days don't mean as much as they used to. If you're looking at commerce.... things that you may want to consider to help yourself be 'distinguished'.

Past Employment.
Connections.
Doing MBA
Doing CPA
etc

Sometimes in this world you can skip the pecking order. You have to actually work up to it. yea. I guess that is fair.

No you should not do law if you are not interested in it at all. It is better to get into honors/Phd in a singlular discipline rather then do ordinariliy in a combined law degree. It would be a waste of time, effort and money if you were to pick law just to 'stand out', unless of course you are extremely good at it. :)

nah, if you do honours/PhD you may become over qualified
