example*?

laws have developed due to changing views of society e.g. homosexuality
use the Toonen Case as an example..laws overturned in NT.
Also Hope and Brown v. NIB health funds ltd, gave homosexual couple recognition as a family for insurance for the two of them and a child. These cases reflect society's chaning and more accepting view of homosexuals.

Or another example u could use is technology. Technology laws need to be developed to reflect peoples views on child porn and hacking etc to protect people. thats easy to exapand on for that point

hope that helped.

Nice answer goan crazy. Just thought I'd mention that the Toonen case led to the laws being overturned in Tasmania, not NT. :) Also, the laws in Aus reflects society in terms of things like social values as well as geographical/environmental issues eg: water restrictions in periods of drought, fire restrictions in dry seasons, prohibiting the use of certain chemicals etc

A really simple example would be the change from the De Facto Relationship Act 1984 (NSW) to the Property Relationships Act 1984 (NSW), whereby the law was changed and subsequently backdated in order to meet the changed expectations within society that same sex couples and those who choose not to marry are adequately protected.

The Anti-Discrimination Acts are a further example of laws developed to reflect changes in society --> i.e. such behaviour unacceptable

yep about that...
The Defacto Relationships Act changed via the Property Relationships Legislation Amendment Act 1999 to the Property Relationships Act 1984 NSW to give the same rights to same sex couples, unpaid domestic carers and defactos.
The Anti Discrimination Act protects them against discrimination on sexual preference however it does not recognise them to be allowed to marry in Australia.

Marriage of O'Dea (1980) - showed that a woman can take out an injunction against her husband. Unito Caro no longer applies.
