Hi,
First of all, glad to see so much interest into O-week. I really do recommend for anyone who are enrolled into UNSW for their first year in 2006, to attend O-week, as there is PLENTY of stuff to do.
And for those who are worried, you'll NEVER be lonely at O-week! Don't worry, we've got ya covered.
With regards to enrolling into O-week - its not like a program. Think of it as a free festival, with plenty of free stuff
and again, plenty of stuff to do
There are lectures, but they are faculty lectures that introduce what the faculty is, who are in charge, all the fuzzy admin stuff. Other than that, O-week is a chance to orientate you with what UNSW has to offer, socially, academically and geographically.
That sort of leads to the last question, its hard to just answer in a single phrase but I'll try - "Its a chance to experience all that is best of uni, and a chance to find your groove" - although vague, you can participate in many things. Of them are campus tours, faculty lectures as mentioned, bands playing at night, trivia, free stuff, jumping castle, jelly wrestling, fairy floss, getting your student card (yes, get it in O-week, if you think the lines are long in O-week wait till week 1!!), and MUCH MUCH MORE!
As for those who are worried about not having friends coming over to see O-week, I have to say thats a good thing. Why do I say that? Well, It is because outside the square you live in is where you will grow the most as an individual.
Also, to help, Yellow Shirts (YS) will be conducting campus tours to students, mainly after faculty lectures, but see your nearest YS for more info.(Yellow Shirts are volunteers from UNSW that will be around to guide you to events and answer pretty much any question you have) The 150 or so YSs will be putting into place mix and meets within tour groups so that you can make friends, that possibly have the same interest and same degree as you do - who knows, you can make a friends for life. I know I have, from my campus tour. You can also learn the essentials, such as transport locations, lecture locations, food outlet locations, services offered by the Source (our union) and more!
I apologise for the late reply and for the long reply, but any more questions refer to
www.oweek.info or go to our forums to ask a question, at

Come join a campus tour and I'll give you a free candy item, most likely of the lollipop variety. I will also give out other suprises just for fun - if I can make them in time (you'll see if you join my tour hehe)
Catcha,
Andrew // YS
PS. Sorry about the over the top information but I want to be as descriptive and helpful as I can. Hopefully if at least 1% of what I said sunk in, then I've done my part.
