Try calling the Universities themselves (rather than email...I feel it's more prompt) and arrange to talk with some current students in your course. I'm going to Skype with some Engo kids myself!
But yeah, back to HSCing!
You can try posting on their Facebook pages, there's the future students page: https://www.facebook.com/macquariefuturestudents to get your question answered. Or if it's about a program etc , post the question to the faculty: https://www.facebook.com/businessandeconomics.mq

3rd year macquarie actuarial student here. I can vouch for the quality of the actuarial staff at macquarie, lecturers like David Pitt and Leonie Tickle are amazingly intelligent and really do inspire you to learn.
It's always funny to see how much emphasis people put on where they want to study actuarial studies. Assuming your competent and manage to make progress on your exemptions, employers won't really care as the content should be analogous. Also I can understand why people think maths at macquarie is pretty average (it's normally run pretty poorly with no tute solutions etc) but keep in mind there can be great lecturers teaching there e.g. (http://www.maths.mq.edu.au/~slack/ - winner of an Australian Mathematical Society medal)
