i have .avi and .mpeg movies on my computer and i want to burn them to a CD (i domnt have a dvd burner) so i can play them in my dvd player....

how do i go about doing this??

get a converter from download.com

search around and read up on it.

Yeh but get a converter that makes proper .mpeg for vcd.. coz apparently ppl makes different version of mpegs. I personally use TMPG Encode for doing that, 30 days trial.

Nero haven't got an mpeg converter built-in. I use it for the final leg of a vcd, svcd creating.

i use nero. It works with some DVD players, but should work with VCD players.

In many cases, you can just burn the files to a cd, and they will open straight off on your dvd player.

I try this first, and 95% of the time the files work.

Otherwise I use TMPG encoder as anti-hyper said.

mpg files yes, perhaps on some DVD players, .avi i doubt any big name brand would play them, let alone non modded ones.

It can..just takes a bit of fiddling around and plugins...which on most occasions doesnt warrant the quality loss.
