You can't really control the amount of work your teacher gives you, if he doesn't listen to you after repeated attempts of trying to initiate some sort of open communication with him, then I think you need to think about what work he gives you are beneficial to your understanding, and find a tutor/ask the teacher for more assistance in understanding the mathematical concepts that are required to successfully complete the work assigned. But honestly, do work that will enhance your understanding, remember homework is not assessment-so won't count towards your rank or ATAR, so decide on what homework will assist you, and don't do the parts that you think are random or don't understand the reason for the teacher to assign them. At the end of the day-ask, think and start doing work

I think he's just giving you a lot of material to practice on, because that's basically the best way to improve at maths and refine your knowledge. But if you don't really understand the work he's giving to you, it's probably a good idea to get a textbook or a tutor so that you can go through the basics, and work your way up in difficulty. If a friend has spare time you could ask them to help you too.
