I personally wouldn't trust this. Imo this is an easier year and they still would want to distinguish between a lot more, so I'm expecting harsher marking. Also from experience there are so many small details that people tend to miss in proofs, (for example, the amount of times I have seen people fail the $\sqrt{2}$ is irrational proof because when they assume $\sqrt{2} = \frac{a}{b}$ for integers $a,b \in \mathbb{Z}$, they forget to state that $b$ is non-zero) and it's just things you don't think about.
wouldnt that further punish the people who inevitably struggled? seems like theyd punish most of the state just to separate the very top?

Unfortunately, I think the test was easy. Personally had a bad day and I think some others will too but overall, a pretty easy paper. Some highlights are q15e iii and q16 a but everything else is kinda stuff we've seen before. Maybe q16b aswell.

Yeah, what do you think an E4 mark will be this year?

Yeah makes sense. Looking back on it there were quite a few easy marks I missed and some questions that weren’t nearly as hard as they looked in the exam. But who knows really, can still get a good ATAR contribution without a crazy mark

I don’t really know myself but I’ve heard people saying between 65-75 so my guess is probably a little below 70. Maybe like 67-68?
Sounds about right, probably closer to 70. I think there’s a few PDFs of the solutions floating around here so you can “mark” what you did if you remember it well and see what you got, that’s what I did. Keep in mind each of the solutions I’ve seen here have mistakes but they are obvious errors only.

Something on the psychological side, people are more likely to be expressive of good marks so that might skew the overall perception. But I do believe this test was a bit easier. Some questions were more out of the box for me personally, but yeah.

Was 10B or D in the end? Because if you do a dot product a + b + c => costheta = magnitude a^2 + a.b + a.c / magnitude a root(a^2 + b^2 + c^2)
- and a and b and c were unit vectors so = root3 on the bottom and a perpendicular to b and c so on the top you get 1

The answer for 16C is wrong. It has the resistance going in the same direction as the motion.

Edit: also, what is wrong with this site? It wouldn't allow me to post a reply to a post I'm replying to had a link in it that had a link in it.

Anyway, I'm referring to the John Drake solution a few posts above mine.

As long as you did it hard enough it should be fine. Papers used to be done in pencil even with scanning.
