Maths Ext1 & 2, UAI & SAM ? (1 Viewer)

How does Maths Ext 1 & 2 work for the UAI calculation?
I was told u get 100% in Maths and a mark out of 50 for each extension maths.
SAM says put each Extension out of 100.
Is there an advantage doing Maths Ext 1 & 2 or am I just making my life harder?

u dont get 100% in maths if you do ext 2 maths, what happens is each extension unit becomes a 2 unit subject. so ext 1 maths is /100 and is therefore a 2u subject (or it counts as 2 units towards your uai) and ext 2 is also out of 100 and a 2u subject.

if you do ext 2 maths, you dont sit the 2u exam, you dont get 100% in 2u, 2u isnt counted in your uai calculation.

So does that mean Math Ext 1 and Math Ext 2 are both 120 h courses, when taken together?
No. It just means that they become 2 units in terms of amounts towards UAI.

In terms of workload, 2 unit maths = 2 unit, 3 unit maths = 1 unit and 4 unit maths = 1 unit

Content maybe.... but I personally thought Ext 2 maths was as much of a workload as any two unit subject I did during the HSC.....

ok, i knew i don't sit the 2 unit mathematics paper,

but i'm doing 12 units, just wondering if i do poorly or not as well as i hoped in the ext 1 and ext 2 maths, how does my 10 units for my uai get calculated since i didn't sit the mathematics paper and lets say the other marks are higher than my ext 1 and ext 2 marks.. (therefore my best 10 units don't include ext 1 and ext 2) ... or does one of the extensions have to count since they are now regarded as 2 units each ??

Thankyou :):)

if you have 12 units, one of the extensions will definately count as a 2 unit subject, either MX1 or MX2

So does this mean that 3U maths and 4U maths is only 60h workload each??!

yea, but you still have to do the 120 hour 2u course cause 3u and 4u simply build upon that knowledge

so if you dont know 2u well, you are pretty screwed when it comes to 3u and 4u

i guess it depends.... i managed to get away from a few chapters of 2u tht i wasnt familiar with and still did prety well for Ext1 and Ext 2 so it depends...
But the alligning and scaling for ext 1 and 2 are incredible
