I've looked around and I can't seem to find this question anywhere.. or I could be missing it.

But basically is there anyway to have completed a 3 year nursing degree and then go on to do medicine?

Or do you have to start a fresh?

Because I know the first 3 years of midwifery and nursing are the same, and Im assuming that the first 3 years of Med is also as they cover the basic things, ethics etc?

If anyone could help, would be great :)

Thanks.

Are you asking if your previous study will be recognised/can you complete medicine faster?

If so, I don't think you can. (Though some Unis like JCU let medical science graduates skip the first year or something).

No, you have to start afresh at year 1 if you get into med.

Med and nursing are completely different degrees.

There is no Recognition of prior learning for medicine, unless students transfer between medical schools on compassionate grounds. We have RN's, Ambos, etc who had to start at first year.

If you want to do medicine, why not sit UMAT next year or do one year of any degree sit the UMAT, try to get an Interview and try to enter as a non-standard.
