I'm testing registration right now, on a computer with internet provided by the South-East Area Health Services.

Yeah, so anyway, this isn't a Medicine and Medical/Health Sciences matter, per se; it's your computer, your browsing suite, and your connection.

Get a buddy to register for you. If nothing's working, and you don't mind the name 'Newbie', I can give you the account with said handle; it's clean as a whistle regarding its posting record.

It may be that one or the following are true:
1. Internet Explorer 6 sucks.
2. Uber-fast ADSL 2 sucks.
3. The Windows OS sucks, or something.

*Hard refresh/delete your cache (IE: Ctrl+F5; FF: Ctrl+F5; Opera: ... manually, IIRC).
*Use another browser.
*Check you have adblockers/imageblockers turned off.
*Upgrade your browser.
*Use another computer.

I dunno why you'd bother with registering; people do it for you. :s

idk, i finish this degree next year. havent decided, im over the whole idea of studying for another 4+ years after this. maybe down the track, see how i go after next year

i only did bio in the hsc, did 3UE and 3UHist, so i think id be fairly confident in the written section .. my chem is a fair bit up to shit, but if it's just stoichiometry type questions i'd be ok

Dentistry has lower/lesser admission requisities.
Dentistry has more pay, lesser hours, is less straining, etc.

$250 for a half an hour, or less, check up.

but thats all u will be doing ur whole life. looking at ppls teeth for the next 40 years. doesnt seem to pleasant to me. with med, u actually get a huge range of choices of pathways (e.g. research, surgery, GP etc). plus, dentists arent real doctors . im so gonna get flamed for this...

If you really enjoy messing with computers or even gardening for example, I doubt the idea of doing it for the next 40 years will stop you from pursuing a career in it. When people opt for medicine because they believe "medicine is respected" or "medicine rewards you" and the usual "medicine is above all else and I'm gona aim for it because it's so high and if I gain entry, I'm so fucking cool" is a waste of your energy, time, resources and above all else, happiness/life. I don't like these people who post their ignorant threads such as: "is medicine worth it?", "which university is best for med?", "should I put dent as a preference?", "I got in, mummi chow b vetty excited now". These sorts of jokers, once graduated, contribute heavily to an already ill health care system.

In regards to some of our current professionals, they opt'd for med because of the money, and now that they have completed their degree, specialised and entered their career, it's not interesting to them because they had no interest in it 15 years ago when they sent their application to the med school, but rather the interest li'd in the idea of money, and respect. I kid you not friends, such people are a necrotic force on our health system.

Fresh, it's good that you believe dent is not for you, obviously you have thought about it and through research you've discovered it's not for you.

Those here who are studying med and disapprove of my opinion feel guilty for being so fucking stupid, well done tard for negatively contributing to an already decaying health care system.

- revamped gamsat (to include psychometic testing and personal statement).
- one year intro course (provides insight to broad range of medicine/surgery)
- series of interviews conducted by wide range of professionals and community members

I was a dental nurse a year or so back and I can say that any desire to become a dentist was quickly quashed by the experience. There is nothing as heart warming as hearing 15 patients a day say 'omg i hate dentists'. And the work is so routine and mundane, if I had to assist with another filling I think I'd have ended up necking myself.

PS your criteria isn't reasonable, I knew I wanted to do med straight out of high school and wasn't really interested in much else (except vet sci) and I'd be pretty fucking annoyed if I had to do a pre-med course (like the US system) to get in later.
And honestly with additional selection criteria, you'll just make the system more elitist, it's also not practical. The journey to becoming a doctor (even via the shortest undergrad route) is already heaps long. With your criteria, it'd make the process WAY longer. I believe the current system is okay...esp how they ALREADY have interviews.

Interviews are expensive for unis to run, having a series of interview with a "wide range" of professionals or community members would just cost way too much.

So basically it's not practical, keep dreaming, and don't diss the people who are graduating from med. You haven't met all of them so you can't generalise on whether or not they will be good doctors or not. Srsly stfu you bitter loser.
