I am in year 11 and we have to do a Mini Pip. same as the year 12 one except not AS detailed.

I am having trouble finding an idea, developing it and sticking with it.
I have narrowed it down to 3 ideas. could you please leave me any helpful comments/critiscism :)
any help is very very much appreciated :)

thanks everyone :)

Idea1:
Exploitation of Young workers in casual jobs..Is it a problem?, How does Society View this isssue?
-are we (young gen.) really exploited
-if so. how does society view the issue, should it be accepted?

cross cultural comparison: how young casual employees see the issue compared to how more elderly see the issue. eg. Old people think young gen. are just complaining and they have it eays
Young people think its unfair, they have little training, low pay etc

IDEA2:
Celebrity Culture - is it having more of an influence on children than their own families....
-bad influences and good influences
-postive role models
-effect on socialisation/deveopment
-is it ok that children are influenced more by celebs rather than what their own parents are telling them is right?
-media

Cross cultural comparison..
females v males. females could be more influenced - or males more influenced if it is by sports stars eg footballers, etc

IDEA3:
Christmas - a lost tradition.
-beomcing more commercialised
-less religious significance. - representing society's decreasing importance placed on religion?

Cross cultural comparison. Xmas in differnet countries
OR
xmas of upper class v. lower class

thats the ideas. please help. any thhing is appreciaed
just to make a start
or to eliminate a bad idea....

thanks
Kate

They all seem pretty ok, just a couple of things, i wouldnt do the one on celebrity culture, its done to death, but than again, cuz its not ur actual pip there isnt really a problem. The christmas one sounds pretty cool and original, id go for that.

Just one thing- be carfeful with making assumptions before you do the research, change ur statements to questions:

Christmas - has it become a lost tradition?.

-is it beomcing more commercialised?

-as a result of ^ does it carry less religious significance (with what kind of people, institutions etc)

- to what degree does this represent society's decreasing importance placed on religion? (make sure you have other research apart from 'xmas studies' proving whether or not this is actually true, dont assume from your personal experience)

This is a bit too specific and a little bias, id phrase it more like this:

- does this reflect societies (make sure you say which one) current attitute to religion (which one? or is it just christianity?)

for x cultural comp, maybe look at another religious holiday (not a christian one) and whether or not the things you found out for x-mas are true for this one as well, then see if u can work out why.

good luck

hey thankyou so much for all your help :)
ive actually decided to change my pip topic again but the points u talked about still are very helpful - ie. changing statements to questions etc.
thanks for taking the time to help
ive changed it to the moral development (kholbgers theory) and if it differs depending on loaction ie country town and city and the weaknesses of the theory...
:)

thanks again
xx
