Does anyone here use mobile apps, to monitor upcoming coming assessments and record their marks to see their progress?

Something like this:

No, but it seems like a good idea.

Didn't know there were mobile apps available. I just create an Excel file to record all my marks and to see my current course mark. Also helps me see around what mark I should strive to get in my finals to achieve whatever grade.

What are some called?

I am actually in the process of developing an application that does this. At the moment it is only for Android and there is a free beta to try it. It can import your marks from a spreadsheet and lets you target marks in a subject, and plots your progress.

I haved add a WAM/GPA calculator to the app.

Animated GIF of it in action or a Youtube Video.

The WAM/GPA calculator lets you save the scenario you created with the sliders. It also lets you add summarised items of past years. e.g First Year -> 48 Credits /82%. You also apply scaling/weighting to semesters, as some universities scaled down first year subjects.

You can get it from the Google Play store for free

Been using istudiez pro for years now (on iOS and there's a mac app), highly recommend it. Easily one of my most used apps during semester since it's also super useful as a timetable and just normal calendar stuff.

Rhye you can import a CSV (spreadsheet) file in the App. Also it auto-guessess sequential names, like if you do Quiz #1, next one you add it will show up as Quiz #2. Working on adding auto suggestion features. As well as batch tool.

That's a future feature, but there are some good sole timetable apps out there.
