This is a weird question - do you know the answers?

I'm suspecting that a=24.5ms^-2 but I'm not sure exactly what is meant by "system".

Well there are 2 forces acting on the system, the tension in the string and gravity. The acceleration is going to be <10ms^-2 as the tension is supplying a resisting force.

Also you shouldn't remove threads once the question has been answered. It'll help other people if they come across it and have a similar problem.
