Re: MQ General chatter and timetables thread (+ Conception Day!)

how's macquarie's summer school progam? i'm thinking of taking up a unit to help make up for the one i withdrew from after the consensus date this semester. tossing up between philosophy and marketing right now, but i was just curious if anyone's ever taken part in it, and how they found it? is it as much of an intense bitch as it looks?

I took a summer school course once for a language, very very intense.

You took MALS, which isn't counted for credit though...

Real summer school lasts ~6 weeks or something. It's still intense.

Yeah the two units I'm tossing up between run for exactly one month or less. freaking crazy. i still reckon i'll give it a go though, i really need the credit points.

Is the PHIL one you want PHIL137? I reckon that would be achievable in such a small time.

Mmm. Honestly I think it's the most valuable unit I have taken all year. It should be compulsory.

Yeah, i wasn't sure whether it was the same. I imagine 6 weeks of that kind of work would be really challenging =S

i've got 6 cps left for 100 level units.
I'm going to be doing German from next year on, but since my degree only allows for 30 cp at 100 level, i'm thinking that any extra 100 level units I take won't actually go to my degree, yeah? But I can still take the units (just paying extra, w/e)?

It depends. I know that some people are able to, and some people aren't. However this is, afaik, the best way to do it:

Ring up estudent and say that you want to add an extra unit, and fabricate some story which is good enough to convince them, but not so good that it means you'll have to get an academic to approve it. I said something along the lines of "I need to do this for my research next year in honours, I know I don't have to do it."

Re: MQ General chatter and timetables thread (+ Conception Day!)

in regards to someone asking for dates if that was for summer school they are out already

fee-help charges you an extra 20% (iirc) loan-fee

has anyone ever enrolled for summer school and then withdrawn before census and got the full refund (after paying upfront)
? i mean that is the normal procedure but just wanted to know if anyone here had done it before

Re: MQ General chatter and timetables thread

Does anyone know when we can enrol in our subjects for next semester and what happens if I'm overseas at the time...will I just have to wait until I can get to a internet cafe/home?

Re: MQ General chatter and timetables thread

you enrol in your subjects in January sometime from memory (although dont quote me on that :p )

And if you're overseas you can either a) do it over there
b) get a family member/friend to do it for you
c) wait till you get home
d) defer and travel more (<---- best option ;) )

Where are you going?

oh...and finished my last exam today :D :D :D
