From memory, no. I payed up front... although that was 6 years ago... so memory is a bit hazy

No, you do not need your TFN if you will not be getting the government to pay any of it.
(I know this is true because I've just finished my Honours enrolment for myself and a friend, and he paid all upfront, also all through undergraduate.)

What if you are intending to pay by HECS and you don't have a taxfile number yet?


I rang the ato and they're closed until the 27th....which is enrolment day?

not sure, but it takes about 3 - 6 weeks to get one usual. Maybe contact the uni and ask them what you could do.
