Hi,
Ive got trials coming up at the end of this term (yes, they are early:()

I was just wondering how many related texts to use in both journeys and Frontline.

My teacher keeps saying use one but have two just in case they ask, but i dont trust my teacher, shes not very...right a lot of the time lol. Basically everyone at my school is using one, but I keep hearing from other places to use two.

Im thinking that my school is telling us to use one because it is easier, but im pretty good at english and I think i can handle two related texts.

So what do you guys recommend?

not sure with frontline but for journy we were told:

set text
at least 2 related texts
at least 2 stimulus material

although we were told to know more stimulus/related to use in case the others dont suit the Q...but for adv. eng i wouldnt just use the one text

For journey, we have to use two Coleridge, two related, one BOS booklet text. Only one related seems a bit minimal and unlikely. With the amount of texts they cant really ask for three or more. So it should be two.

Two is easily enough. Extremely rarely, if ever, your related texts won't fit the question. They try to make the questions ambiguous enough so that you can give a generalised answer using your texts.

I would assume they would want two, seeing as it is your trials. But if they ask for one, that's all the better. Choose whatever text you're most comfortable with in that case. It wouldn't really matter which you chose.

English Area of Studies:

* 1 prescribed
* 1 stimulus (from the booklet)
* 2 related

They CAN ask for two in the HSC exam. In the past they haven't, but they can. It's good to prepare for two anyway, just in case one is better than the other, or it helps you explain points better.

English Advanced Module C: Telling the Truth

* 1 prescribed (Frontline: 2+ episodes, Birthday Letters: 2+ poems)
* And I think it's 1 related...

Thanks everyone.

I think Ill use two for the AoS.

What about representation and text? Im guessing it would be similar...

Exactly the same. Thankfully, there isn't a stimulus booklet text to talk about.

I heard you need 3 for each ><
But maybe that's just to be on the safe side *shrugs*

I realise everyone is saying the same(ish) thing.

AOS
2 scenes/poems/parts of Prescribed text
1 Stimulus Booklet (absolute waste of time to do 2)
2 Related pieces for HSC

Module C
2/3 scenes/episodes etc from Prescribed text
2/3 related material
We were encourage to do 3/3 if we could write that fast! If not 3/2, then 2/2.

Nope. Not for "In the Wild", anyway. Don't know about "Transformations", but I assume not.
