The area of the parabola was 18 without doubt.

I used an orthodox method to try and calculate the shaded area, would of got it if not for a stupid error, but the shaded area was 27.

was it 45 solid number or rounded, i can't remember my area of the triangle but i do remember the area of the triangle was estimated for me, however the area between was 18 :(

u didnt need to estimate the area of the triangle.. u no the base length using 2 points, and u no the equation of the tangent, so u can work out the perpendicular height and then find the area using A=1/2 x b x h

Sweet I got 45-18 = 27 too...w00t... it's just fucked how completely gay questions are worth so many marks and decent questions like that are worth barely any.

everyone got 45-18 = 27 ? can someone tell me how? i stuffed this question up but i did it again after the exam and i got the answer 14 for part 2. I got 15 for the area of the triangle by using 1/2absinC

Heah I got 12 too. But I couldn't figure out how to get the area for the last bit. Thought I'd fing the area of a triangle, using didtance formula, and tan0=m for 1/2absinC
