What do your parents listen to?

Do you think it has influenced your taste?

My music taste is directly taken from my mum. We basically like all the same bands. She has a thing for a lot of 80's stuff like The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, New Order, Joy Division and Siouxuse and the Banshees so she got me into that which influenced my preference toward indie/alternative stuff.

my dad also listened to the bee gees, which i guess explains my love for cheesy disco and 80s stuff, and the "my pants are too tight" style of vocals.

my rents probably have the most bland musical taste of anyone i've met. I guess both of them listen mostly to classical and jazz music (and i think my dad has a collection of vinyls, but never listens to them), or whatever background music is on tv at the moment, but they weren't really avid fans of any bands in particular. They also can't stand loud music (by that i mean louder than anything on the PA in department stores).

Needless to say, they haven't really influenced much to what i listen to.

Dad brought me up listening to classic rock and pop from the 70's. So I've still got a liking of Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, etc. However, I'm more open to experimental styles of music than he is. I'll give anything from New Age Minimalism to Grindcore a go.
