everyone needs money and whatnot, my parents and grandparents are sick of me sponging off them, so i was wondering where in town is a good place to get a job. Do many people from une have part time jobs?

Yea I'm going to get a job too while I'm up there, so that i can afford partying and alcohol lol. Applying now to Woolworths and Coles to see if there is anything there.
Have been told by alot of people that there pretty use to uni students working up there and so have flexible hours and such. I know at woolies and coles at least...hours dont come into play until after they give you a job so then you can work out when you are available and are pretty flexible with holidays and such.
I dont really care where I work though...I just need a job.

they will give you the time off, u just need to give them notice. I also got prac time off and if i wanted to go to an austin function they were cool with it. I guess ya just need to know how to pull up after a big night and still get your work done. I know that the cinema will be looking for workers so if you get in quick its an easy job and my mate said its really fun.
The reason shops can be flexible with uni hols is because armidale is dead when uni isnt in.

if you are going to work at a pub then be aware that the busiest nights are thurs/fri/sat and you'll probably have to work those nights and not be able to attend college functions.... just thought i'd say this - cos a few ppl at albies got jobs at our pub (the Kilda) and then could hardly go to any college functions cos they'd have to work (as we all go to the pub after college functions and it's busy)

also - if you can, get centerlink - it makes life a whole lot easier!!

prob the same as most college students - waste time sitting around chatting or drinking!! for example - my timetable this semester means i have quite a few mornings when i don't start till 10 or 11 (compared to mostly 8 or 9am starts all last year) - and i bet i'll waste them by sleeping in!! maybe going for a walk or doing some exercise if i'm lucky

I'm working at our Country Club at the moment, picking up glasses and bartending, and at a hardware store on the weekends. I figure I won't bother working at all for the first six months I'm at uni, then after I work out what I'll be missing and if it's worth it, I'll look for a job.

Advice to anyone who hasn't got their RSA, GET IT!!! A job in a pub or club is great. The work is mostly good, the hours don't interfere with school and the pay is awesome. Doing a combi RSA, RCG and Bar Course at Tafe is probably the best bet, doing it opens up a whole new world of employment.

I was working in a nursing home for the last few months in Sydney...do you know if anyone else gets jobs at Nursing Homes? My nursing home training is rather specialised anyway, so hopefully I can pick up a job.
