I notice that most of the signers here are bloody lazy.

LEGAL STUDIES ISN'T ROTE LEARNING. YOU HAVE TO KNOW HOW ISSUES RELATE TO A VARIETY OF SITUATIONS; cofac.

Rock On !!

I agree to the Legal Studies Crime question being completely invalid and have no hesitation in representing my legal class to include our school on the petition!

I don't do legal, but if you live with someone who regulalry has to chase up laws, you do pick stuff up. If you're serious about this, you'll actually organise something and do it properly rather than simply whiching. If you were the Board of Studies and got a thread from an internet forum with a reputation for mocking you that was filled with people whinging about what happened, would you act on it? Consequently, if you had an actual organised campaign to appeal to the Board of Studies that involved taechers and students alike from across the state, which would be more convincing? Instead of thinking about how to go about this, you're all about to go jumping in both feet first without testing the depth.

Of course, you won't listen to what I have to say because you're so f***ing arrogant you think you always know better.
How ironic, the person who doesn't do legal and is telling us how we should do things (because our way is apparently lacking) calls me arrogant and says I think I always know better.

Right on. The "variety" of issues that the syllabus asked us to investigate were supposed to be used as examples of the effectiveness (or ineffectivenes) of the legal system. NOT to be individually tested on. I researched many: count terroro laws, mandatory sentencing and plea barganing. Will they ask specifically on those next year?

That was totally unfair they should take that question completely out of the marking scheme and then adjust the marks for the the rest of the crime question so we all get the mark we should. I had no idea about that question!

well it seems to me that ur trying to use your commonsense at the wrong time and situation.
the syllabus' purpose is to set the reasonable amount of content for the students so that they can focus on using them as basis for the skills of the course and not have to know EVERY single issue about the law.
if you're saying that we should know everything about the law then its not reasonable since we have other subjects to focus on and it's virtually impossible to cover all areas and issues. i think that you'd be the first to become outraged if there was a question regarding something unstated in the syllabus which disadvantaged you more so than others.

Whilst I dont particularly feel like weighing into this debate the constant whinging about crime is so unnecessary. The 7 mark question was actually quite easy to answer. Plus if you aren't up to date so to speak with current social justice issues and especially juvenile justice issues then what are you doing in Legal studies. The one thing that can possibly give any one a case for whinging is that the HSC does not allow to much thought outside the syllabus for once they give us a question that is not a straight dot point and we have a massive cry. Quite frankly That legal paper was bloody good and Im sorry but perhaps it is to bad for those who cannot think for themselves without a syllabus study guide.

Ok, did you all not see the other thread?

Effectiveness within the legal system has a number of meanings. They include:
¥ the extent to which an issue can be dealt with by the law
¥ if an issue is dealt with by the law, how well it is dealt with in terms of ease of
access
, simplicity, consistency, predictability and delivery of just outcomes
access to and participation in
the legal system and

methods of dispute resolution

P4.1 discusses the specific
problems encountered in
gaining access to the legal
system

P4.2 investigates and assesses
the formal and informal
means of resolving conflict

P4.3 describes the role of legal
rights and responsibilities
in resolving conflict and
encouraging cooperation

H4.1 analyses specific problems
encountered in gaining
access to the legal system

H4.2 assesses the effectiveness
of dispute resolution
mechanisms

H4.3 explains rights and
responsibilities and
evaluates the provisions of
domestic and international
legal systems in
addressing these issues
Given that it is also supposed to increase your knowledge of the legal system, and how it affects you (you are afterall youth), I can't see how the question is that bad...

Also; you all know you could have simply written answers that you definately SHOULD HAVE for access to law, and just apply them all to a teen. Seriously, just mention every single one of the possibilities you can think of, you don't LOSE marks you only GAIN marks so just write them ALL.

(I actually liked the questions because i looked at problems in the family in the family option, so had looked at offending children of domestic violence etc.
But I support your case because I was simply lucky and what they did was wrong)
