Hey guys,

Was wondering about why we keep ph probes in a buffer solution of known concentrations...i know it is to "calibrate" it, but im not exactly sure how...

Thanks in advance.

It's because buffer solutions contain a (weak) acid/base conjugate pair solution that effectively neutralises any acid or base left on the probe.

^ + after it is neutralise's any base or acid the pH wont be affected...cos its a buffer and thats what they do
