does it matter WHAT you do your PIP on instead of HOW you researched and your application of Society and Culture concepts, the effectiveness of your PIP etc etc....?

What's your cross-cultural perspective?

okay i'm doing the effect of muslim immigration on wider australian society, so if it is making us look over our values and stuff like that as well as issues such as the granville high boys thing and that leads to the influence of the media
so its pretty broad at the moment so any help would be great

 Hey, im doing my pip this year, i haven't decided what the question is, but i have finally decide on what my topic is about: children and how technology such as computers and playstations have changed them. How they are now not going out as much and playing on computers instead. I was thinking about doing a cross cultural comparions between 2 different generations, or maybe something else, im not sure yet. If anyone could help me refine my topic i would really appreciate it. :)

Hey relena, maybe you could do the affect of technology on the socialisation process of a child? An obvious x- cultural is time, but gender could also work. Seems like a really good topic, good luck!

I'm doing “Has the portrayal of homosexuals in the Australian television media in the last 50 years encouraged or discouraged prejudice towards homosexuals in the macro and micro worlds?”

I have the same problem which is exactly why I don't know where to go on from here :)

...I'm doing social class and teenagers in the media. And most of my friends are doing stuff on relationships...

"Values" is too broad and you need to snip that down! You evidently have a cross culture componenet [time] - Women from the 50s [or whatever] compared to women now-a-days.

As for secondary research, you could look into what women valued back in the old days such as family, education etc. Looking at gender roles would be a great place to start.

i'm getting cold feet with my topic.
what are your opinions on a topic relating to "pop culture and gen y: the adaption to technology and pop culture icons, ie. the ipod and myspace, in comparison to the baby boomers or even 'gen y' of another culture, ie. eastern or middle eastern"

or even something to do with homosexuality, "the acceptance of homosexuality in todays society in comparison to society in 1950/60s or in comparison to middle eastern society today".

what are your opinions? thanks in advance!

You have a cross-culture component for both topics, but the first one sounds more interesting and will probably be more fun when it comes to conducting secondary and primary research. You could use more personal reflection than you could compared to the topic on homosexuality.

Thank you, Gangles.McGee, I feel a little more comfortable to look into it.
Do you think it is to late to change my PIP? I have only done my introduction for my other topic.

Thank you so much, Gangles.McGee, you are such a great help.
I spoke with my teacher today and she said my introduction (for my original topic) is outstanding and said that I'm well on the right track, and, with the help I got from here, I could pull this PIP off easily. So, I don't think I should change my topic now. Plus, she also recommended some people at school I could interview, which is a great help.

Thanks again for all your help. greatly appreciated.
