and kids, go listen to some rachmaninoff.. you just need to be exposed to good classical music. mozart and chopin are soooooooo overrated mainstream stuff.
you only have to do pieces. no more scales, arpeggios, contrary motion, dominants, diminisheds, cadences, ETC ETC! iow, all the shit is gone.

I wanted A - i've got As all the time! and i just was REALLY lazy last yr when i did 8th grade. but nah, just finish 8th grade. i still haven't done the theory exam for it so i haven't got my certificate yet! :/

i want to do amus after.. no technical crap anymore!
hey, getting a B in 8th grade is still good!!! :D

aaaah i dunno, it just seems like i've spent forever on eighth grade... and i've only learnt like two & a half pieces out of the four i'm meant to have -____-;;

lol i haven't done 5th grade musicianship either......

AMUS is pretty hard, right? coz a lot of people i know failed their exam... my friend got A+ for eighth grade & she failed AMUS.... O___o;;

but the thought of not having to do technical crap is sooooo appealing...

I do!! I wish my parents have forced me. they didn't let me start until I was about 8 :( I still play. I play everything that I like. Chopin is probably my favourite. I like Bach but I hate playing most of his pieces coz they are technically demanding. I like pieces that let me 'flow' ie Chopin and Debussy (early works). I guess the main problem with me is that I hate to practise. I am really really lazy. but once i get the hang of the music, I play almost non-stop

I play a fair bit, but mainly I improvise and stuff around with classical pieces. I play all Bach's "Well tempered Clavier" and sometimes just muck around with themes from there etc. It comes in handy when I get asked to play for weddings etc. A quick $60 for half an hours work!

got up to amus b4 yr 12.... then gave it up cos i thought i didnt have time.. which i didnt. and was planning on doing lmus after hsc
so i didnt play anythin technical during that time. onli the same old easy stuffs... modern.
then tried to start it again after the hsc.... but realised i couldn't. cos my fingers didnt work like they used to.
so now cant get anywhere with that lmus. and regrettin it. :(

so a word to u hsc-ers out there... practice ur scales once in a while. it wont hurt ya.
