currently entering / in first term of year 12 and im doing history extension

im really stressed about the major project and i want to know what the typical / recommended timeline for this subject is. when do most people decide their topic area? when do people finalise their questions?

i understand that majority of the research is completed during the summer holidays, but how much work do people typically finish by the end of term 4?

also, are there any good resources / book recommendations for me to further grasp this subject?

decided to completely change tack in mid-january, still had plenty of time to write multiple drafts of the essay itself and get full marks on task 1 (the plan and source analysis?? not sure if same for you). So in terms of how much work i did by end of term 4, essentially none of it contributed to my final submission. By end of holidays though I had half a draft

hta prizewinner essays are helpful - on state library website

Most students usually pick their topic area early in term 1, sometimes even by the end of term 1, so you have time to think about it.

the project is important and can be interesting and fun, but in the long term, the actual content of the subject is far more important.
