I have read numerous articles on it and I still don't get podcasting.

Could someone reply to a definition of podcasting in simple english...?

podcasting is basicly ameteur radio on the web.

you download shows off itunes for free and you can subscribe to shows.

Heh I guess that there is now no real need to create another thread asking for feeds.

I download various overseas stuff, mainly for new music.

Podcasting is basically the ability to download individual daily/weekly segments from the net and listen to them at another time.

sounds like a stupid idea... the articles i read are about the kind of money u can rake in with advertising and stuff etc.

Same as webcasting, more or less, but it gives you the freedom to download it and take it where you want.

not really radio...

more like subscription audio magazines.

most podcasts are free, they automatically download when itunes is open.

I noticed some video podcasts now. How do these work with the ipods?

Im sure that the colour ipods can not replicate video, but i did read in a comp mag recently, there was rumour that apple were thinking about developing one (ipod to watch video's on), which to me seems pretty useless, there's no way id want to spend any substancial amount of time looking at such a small screen.

but short instructional videos and short programs/news could be a good idea.

like, download postcast over breakfast and watch morning news on bus or something.

maybe its just me but trying to sit in a rickity bus or train while its moving along bumping up and down watching such a small screen, just the thought gives me a headache :-\ maybe its just me?

Podcasting: where you subscribe to an internet radio show of a certain interest to you...for example:

I subscribe to the TripleM Breakfast Show; "The Cage". TripleM put out new episodes every few days which iTunes grabs for me...

as simple as i can get it
