Terror suspect shot dead after two police officers stabbed in Endeavour Hills

The terrorism suspect shot dead by a Victoria Police officer outside Endeavour Hills police station has been named as 18-year-old Numan Haider.

Mr Haider stabbed a Victoria Police officer and an Australian Federal Police member, who were investigating him over allegations he had recently unfurled an Islamic State flag in a suburban shopping centre and made several inflammatory remarks about the Australian Federal Police and ASIO on social media.

On Mr Haider's Facebook page, he had posted photographs of himself wearing military camouflage with an Islamic flag alongside abusive message towards ASIO and the federal police.

"Lets not put the focus on other things. The main message I'm sending with these statuses and photos is to the dogs AFP and ASIO who are declaring war on Islam and Muslims," Mr Haider posted on Facebook.

Mr Haider made other comments about Australian law enforcement agencies that cannot be published.

Photographs on Mr Haider's Facebook site also include other images of what appear to be members of Islamic State, also known as ISIS, in the Middle East.

Several friends of Mr Haider have confirmed to Fairfax Media that he had been killed after stabbing two police officers.

"He was the best kid, [who] never harmed anyone, never missed a prayer," one friend said.

The sad thing is half of them are literally not adults. The kid who I have mutual friends with has gone to fight with ISIS and he is barely 15 yrs old.

no, it's not what religion does. it's what extremism, naivety, and a lack of education does. These young kids need to realise they don't know as much as they think, and they're not as strong as they think. This is an example of what a lack of education, understanding and profound extremism can do to naive, stupid overconfident teenagers.
What this kid did was absolutely disgusting and disgraceful.

Muslim leaders call for full investigation into Melbourne teen terror suspect shooting

MUSLIM leaders called for a full investigation into the fatal shooting of a teenage Muslim man after he stabbed two counter-terrorism officers in Melbourne last night.

Not "extremists", muslim LEADERS. Pathetic.

Never heard of a muslim leader asking for a "full investigation" when a non-muslim is attacked by a muslim.

Why are there so many islamic extremists though?
naivety, and a lack of education
Also, the fact that roughly 1 in 4 humans are Muslim along with no education means there is a higher probability of a Muslim extremist. Yet, in terms of Muslim population itself, barely a fraction are terrorists.

Then the next question is, if it is barely a fraction, how do they rise to such power and how come no one stops the problem before this happens? I guess the Government in their respective countries are to blame.

Fixed that for you. ISIS is just wahhbism turned to 11. Saudis have essentially been bankrolling wahhbist literature overseas. It's kinda like if Mitt Romney decided to bankroll the morman church overseas operations, you'd see a lot more mormans in the near future. Same as why catholicism is able to spread to the "new world" much faster than protestantism, church funding goes a long way.

Sylvia is actually right for once, most terror suspects that are capable of committing attacks are not "poor and uneducated." Shit Bin Laden was rich AS FUCK to the point of being able to fund his private army. Lots of them are educated overseas and suspiciously all take a lot of engineering subjects, especially chemical engineering and what not.

With all these pre-planned raids it seems like as if AFP are trying to crack down on an "underbelly" type case.

inb4 "Underbelly: A tale of two terrorists" comes out.

Clearly the problem is engineers.
I agree; lets lock up every single engineer and go back to the stone age. Heck, while we visit the stone age, lets just stone them all.

The flag he is holding up is not an ISIS flag.

On topic, i think the teenager deserved to be shot. As a muslim myself, i seriously hate all these teenagers and stupid people who tarnish the name of Islam, by enforcing violence on innocent people. These people have been fooled and brainwashed by individuals who misinterpret the Quran.

Honestly these people are not representations of the religion of Islam. They are extremists with a futile cause that will hopefully be annihilated by the Western countries which have signed to engage in airstrike attacks.

I agree with you that Saudi Arabia is to blame for a vast majority of these 'terrorism' problems. But guess who's best friends with Saudi Arabia? That's right - The USA. Both earn billions from each other and regard each as other as major allies. The US never comments on Saudi Arabia and its role in all this. The US are quick to condemn Iran (the most righteous state in the middle east), but never to Saudi Arabia who abuse human rights on a level that shatters all in the world.

And the thing with Bin Laden is that he was not 'properly educated'. A lot of these 'terrorist' teenagers in the Muslim world are brainwashed by these Saudi funded Wahabbi terrorists into believing shit.

SylviaB (the dumb bitch - yeah I just called you that :p ) tries to imply that MOST of these terrorists are well educated, especially in technical subjects. That's utter bullsit. The majority of 'terrorists' are not educated at all. Sure there are some that are educated, but they are easily the minority.

And guess what, I take civil engineering...... I know a lot about buildings and structures ;) LOL

I'm sorry but the issue cannot just be put down to people being "uneducated" and pigeonhole it away.

- Imagine you have Ideology A. Ideology A has some teachings that are quite simply violent or barbaric, even in their correct context (before I get jumped on, please see this: http://www.truthbeknown.com/islamquotes.htm).
- Now, only a very small minority, not even 1% of the believers, actually act upon these beliefs.
- Does that make the belief itself any less dangerous? Absolutely not.

Look it's all well and good to be idealistic but the world is not Disney. Dangerous beliefs breed dangerous people, even if it is only a minority. And let's say they didn't. Should we still be accepting of it? I just want people to wake up and realize we can't just be airy fairy and politically correct towards anything and everything, and see that every 'peace' teaching in these religious texts has an equal and opposite violent teaching. Which one should people act upon?

Oh, and of course there needs to be an investigation into the Police shooting the teenager. Just like there was one in the US recently, with the black teenagers that got shot by Police.

How do we know the Police and authorities are not making bullshit up? We should never believe anyone, with a blind eye.

The police got stabbed? I don't know what else you could investigate.

There's sufficient evidence to suggest the teenager was shot after he tried to kill the officers.
