QFT.

So I guess the only question is whether you classify socially liberal attitudes as being left wing or right wing.
social liberal is the general definition of a social lefty isn't it?

Yes, university students are by large more leftward leaning, though interestingly safe Liberal seats such as North Sydney boast some of the highest levels of university degrees per capita which suggests that these students grow up, get a bit of sense (and on occasion a bit of money) and realise the wrongs of their past and start voting Liberal...

Uni grads earn much higher salaries per capita (North Sydney, being a rich area and all). Therefore the policies of the liberal party benefit them much more than labor's.

I love the whole 'Lefties are idiots' mentality you hold. If anyone has some growing up to do it would be you.

isn't it fair to say though that intelligent people in general are more socially liberal?

economic issues have more grey/contentious issues as opposed to just being like religious nuts/old ppl hating things for no good reason

plus more ppl are apathetic about whether the government should implement particular economic measures, while it's easy to feel passionate about something like equal rights for all, etc.

so u'd expect to see a range of economic positions, with general apathy, among a general support for socially liberal policies right?

I think many are pretenders tbh. I think you get alot of people whom claim to be socialists and so on but give them a 250k salary and ask them if they want taxes to be raised on them for the betterment of society and they will give you some verbose nonsense about how the economic climate has changed and now that they have money taxes are no longer a good thing.

More intelligent, I'm not sure.
But social liberals tend to be more open-minded, with more progressive views. Social conservatives tend more to hold on to ideology, religion for example.

open minded isnt necessarily a good thing.
open minded to lowering the legal age of consent?
open minded to legalizing drugs?
open minded to letting minorities rape this great country?

So not waiting till we have all the facts and making a quick decision about legalizing drugs/Dropping the age of consent/allowing rape is a good thing?
