Had a polynomials question:

A Polynomial of degree 3 has a double root at 2. When X=1 it takes the value of 6, When X=3 it takes the value of 8, find the polynomial

And im not sure if its simply crunching the algerbra or if there is an easier way to get the solution

P(x) = (x-2)^2 (px+q)

P(1) = 6 --> P(1) = p + q = 6
P(3) = 8 --> P(3) = 3p + q = 8

Simultaneously solve for p and q

P(x) = (x-2)^2 (x + 5)

Might expand..

no other way i can think of

is this a 4u question?
