Has anyone ever looked through the CSSA papers and seen how similar it generally is to the HSC? Like probability for predictive purposes

Has anyone got access to the CSSA for this year? Can't find it anywhere and our teacher didn't get it

yes, just looking over the 19, 20, 22 cssa and hsc papers (2021 was nearly completely different) at least one of the essay question tests on the same dot point as in the trial papers. the short answers are a bit all over the place, but there's at least two dot points that are similar across them, just testing different specifics. you either get short answers the same or the essays the same. generally, the hsc essay questions seem to be more broad than the cssa papers.

2020 - both questions were entirely different
2021 - both questions were entirely different
2022 - question on us involvement - cssa was changing nature of involvement 1954-1965 and hsc was reasons for withdrawl - other question was entirely different

lmk if you want specifics about the questions! i'm happy to send u the cssa ones as well if you would prefer. i'm doing indochina too, if you see/have any particularly good resources would you be able to send those to me?

What about russia + Pacific have they tended to be similar?

russia:
2019- both different, the only similarity i could find was that cssa asked about the political and economic transformation under stalin and hsc asked about stalin emerging as the leader
2020- both different, happy to send you the cssa questions if needed.
2021- one question similar, about bolshevik ideology - cssa was the role it played in the power struggle in the 1920s and hsc was the extent the soviet state maintained the ideology
2022- questions were sort of similar - cssa was bolshevik ideology influcing social and cultural change in the ussr under stalin and hsc was about stalin's policies transform social and cultural life in russia.

pacific:
2019- both pretty similar, cssa about social, political and economic effects of war on civllians in s-e asia, hsc asked about effect of the war on civillians in s-e asia. other question in cssa was about japan's defeat, with a source about bombings (b-29 if) and hsc was about the use of the a-bomb in japan's defeat.
2020- both questions were different
2021- both questions were different
2022- both questions were different

Interesting. Thanks for the reply. Some practice is better than none. Histories broadness is one of the things that really detracts from enjoying the subject. Getting a question about something you aren't remotely interested in is the worst. Atleast we get semi-decent scaling.

same with occupation in terms of slave labour etc was alluded to in the 2019 q but not explicitly mandated

Yeah I'm pretty confident in anything to do with the course of the conflict, so pearl harbour, early advance, turning points, allied strategy, a-bomb, and defeat, so praying that one of those comes up lmao
