i'm really expecting something to do with political transformation since the last time they asked one was in 2020! (that was "to what extent did the use of terror contribute to the political transformation of the soviet state under stalin?")

my school's trial questions were along the lines of
(a) assess the significance of differing visions for the ussr in the leadership conflict 1924-1929
(b) to what extent can stalinism be considered totalitarianism in the period to 1928? (i answered this one and wouldn't be mad if they asked something like it, but they had a nature of the ussr under stalin question in 2022 so not as likely)

kind of hoping for a power struggles question because i spent so much time revising all the names and stages lol. something like (a) in the hsc wouldn't be at all surprising because the last power struggle question was in 2021 and they haven't asked anything abt "competing visions for the bolshevik party and the ussr".

praying for a question abt the impact of conflict on civilians in vietnam!! as far as i know the only syllabus points they haven't yet asked are
  • US foreign policy towards Vietnam from 1964
  • the impact of the war on civilians in Vietnam
so either or maybe even both are pretty likely. my trial question was "assess the impact of war on civilians in vietnam" which is so easy to sustain a judgement through

i interpreted the 2021 questions abt the the failures of the us military & nationalist goals described by ho chi minh as those dot points but you have a point! i could def see them asking something abt developments in north and south vietnam 1954-1964.

& you're welcome!! 😊

For Conflict in Europe they haven’t asked about any of the syllabus points on the end of the conflict, my teacher reckons it’ll be on Nuremberg War Crime Trials, and for Russia the impact of idoelogy on foreign policy hasn’t been asked - altho FP was asked last year under “differing visions”

the impact of the creation of the USSR also hasn’t been asked in relation to consolidation of power.

I’ve gone through and highlighted the best I can for questions they’ve already asked for Russia and Conflict in Europe. Let me know your thoughts or predictions. IMG_2474.jpegIMG_2447.jpeg

What are you thinking will be the most likely asked for Russia?
I'm thinking questions on Stalin's emergence, Political transformation, foreign policy most likely, maybe consolidation of power.
Btw, only in 2022 were two questions asked from the same big dot point, in which case it was social change and Stalin's control over USSR

idk ab foreign policy lowkey, just cause competing visions does involve bolshevik ideology (but ig you never know with nesa). agree with your other points tho + cld see power struggle + totalitarianism

does anyone have any possible predictions for conflict in the pacific? unfortunately i also do Australia for national studies but it's really hard to predict anything for that cause barely any schools do it.

Conflict in the Pacific, I'm really thinking Japanese Advance or Life under Occupation, they've asked questions on each syllabus dot point except those two.

Probably not foreign policy since it was last year - I’d assume either somethjnt on Bolshevik consolidation of power, involving the creation of the USSR. Somethjng like:

“Assess the impact of the creation of the Soviet Union on Soviet consolidation of
power.”
if they’re mixing key feature, it also could be the influence of Stalinism in the USSR - so social, cultural political and economic change under one broad question.
