well windows would recognise a device if it was in properly

just make sure its clicked/snapped into place

then reinstall all over again

If it hasn't recognised a video card in your computer, you wouldn't see anything on your screen. What we've asked you to do (looking in Device Manager, etc) is to see what Windows has recognised the card to be. Right now it looks like the drivers have gone wacko and not recognised anything. Give the downloaded drivers a go after a reboot.

is it in properly or is it onboard?
Most probably standalone AGP card. Never heard of a Radeon 9600XT come onboard for a PC.

i had a look in it just now.

i think the video card is fucked up.
the fan isnt spinning anymore.

the guy would have to take it back under warranty...it has been less than 3 months.

have you checked the power connections of the fan to the vid card itself? but if the fans dead, then the chip could have been fried. :/

The exact same thing happened with my video card.
I haven't figured our how to fix it yet.
I might just email dell support cause I'm still under warranty.

Is it GeXcube?
Cos the fan stopped spinning on that for my friends GeXcube 9600XT, he had to play around with it to get it working properly.
Though, it didn't stuff in windoze. Take it back to the shop, should be covered by warranty. Then when/if you get new ones, its probably better to get drivers from ATi
