I divided the great circle distance by 1.852 to get me into nautical miles... then i devided that by 15 to show how many hours it took... I got something like 44 hours and 40 minutes. Scince thats less than 48 hours, they would make it in time :)

i cant remember the specific of it but it was 11 degrees, yeah

part 2 i used the arc length formula and just threw some numbers into that.

Part 3 i used hypotheticals, saying 15 knots is 15 nautical miles which is so many kilometres per hour, going that fast for 48 hours takes them further than they need to so they make the distance in the time required.

Ok, 1 knot is one nautical mile per hour.
Therefore one knot is 1.852 km per hour
15 * 1.852 = 27 or some crap.
The distance from question II 1 divided by 27 or some crap = 44

1200 km/1.852 = 647.948... M
Time = distance/speed
= 647.948.../15
= 43.196... hrs
It's probably not right but that is what i got.

i did 11 times 60 (cause 1 degree is 60miles) then divided 660 by 15knots and got 44 hours.

no wat u do is first u multiply the knots by 1.852km coz u must make it compatible with km, then once u get that answer u use the formula s=d/t

s=1.852*knots
d= the answer from the question above

put it into the formula an u get the answer, an the answer is, is taht they will get to the place on time fink its like 43hrs and sumfin sorry cbf typing out calculations

You shouldn't be telling people "no what you do" when you have the wrong answer, it reflects badly on you.

i had no freakin idea what that stupid question was about - what the hell is knots? and those nautical miles and crap? they said to show the distance between sorong and darwin so i drew a big picture of the Earth and put 2 little dots on it and labelled then 'sorong' and 'darwin' and put an arrow between thems saying 'the distance between these two are 1200km' or however much it was supposed to be. ARGHHHHHHHHH

Did anyone else do a random equation, get a totally wrong answer and then write :. the distance from Darwin to Sorong is approximately 1200km.

They HAVE to give you one mark - you stated that it was approximately 1200km from Darwin to Sorong...

One thing the exam did teach me is how to spell "approximately"... I think that's a good thing...

"show that the distance is 1200"
not "fuck up a simple equation then write down what we've already given you for a mark"
So, no, they don't HAVE TO give you a mark and they probably won't.
