Oh okay that makes sense, im hoping for a Band 6 in IPT/Maths and Hopefully Ext2 englishAn ATAR estimate would be useful because pinpointing your current level of performance can help determine the extent to which you can improve your overall performance through favourable HSC exam performance, that is, your ability and likelihood of reaching or exceeding an ATAR of 90. However, inferences can be made from the information that you provided. First, your school rank indicates that a reasonable number of band 6's/E4's would be achieved in your subjects each year. This would allow us to better understand your ranks and make reasonable assumptions regarding your current level of performance in each. For example, your rank in English Extension 2 is optimal. If you also achieve the highest mark in the external component for this subject, you will technically be able to maximise your overall HSC mark, allowing this subject to make a good contribution to your ATAR.
Similarly, your ranks in English Advanced and Mathematics Standard 2 seem good, meaning that you can likely expect a good Assessment Mark for each subject. Coupled with favourable HSC exam performance, you can achieve a good overall HSC mark in each subject, increasing the contribution made by each to your ATAR. By comparison, English Advanced and Mathematics Standard 2 can make a greater contribution to your ATAR than English Extension 2 because they are worth 2 units each, compared to 1 unit in the case of English Extension 2.
On the other hand, your position in the rest of your subjects is of a lower standard and at this stage may prevent you from achieving your ATAR goal. This is where you should focus most of your preparations because the better your HSC exam performance across those subjects, the better your overall performance will be in each, and the greater the contribution of each to your ATAR. Of course, since you are taking 12 units, 2 units worth of subjects (which can be one 2 unit subject, or two 1 unit subjects) will not count towards your ATAR.
Overall, I think that an ATAR of 90 is within reach, as long as you are able to perform favourably in the HSC exams of your lower-performing subjects.
I hope this helps!
Yes, as I mentioned earlier, given this information, you can achieve a 90 ATAR if you do well enough in your HSC exams.Oh okay that makes sense, im hoping for a Band 6 in IPT/Maths and Hopefully Ext2 english
High b5 for English advanced and then maybe mid/low b5 for the rest.
So all in all, given my ranks if i am able to push myself to do high in my externals do you think I can pull of a 90?
The grind starts tonight will keep you guys postedYes, as I mentioned earlier, given this information, you can achieve a 90 ATAR if you do well enough in your HSC exams.
uh for math, its even more likely that someone may not get b6 in adv and still get e4 in ext. Currently thats probs me, my rank for ext is way better as compared to adv. ik so many people from last yr that got e4 in 3u but got like 86 ish in adv. Adv math is never hard, its just the sheer retardedness of questions that screws people over. for me at least, i find ext more amusing regardless of the difficulty, as the questions itself are better and not retarded. in terms of eng, people may do way better in 4u english as its a major work, so they have plenty of time (im guessing) to score and do well. Adv english can be very subjective, and in the end, 4u kids may not do that well there. Also, there's the 'cba' factor. many 4u eng kids just never try in adv because they can't be asked even when its going towards hsc, so they end up doing shittier in 2u than 4u. this is also me with 2u math, as the questions are either just too repetitive or boring, so i just end up always going on my phone when studying 2u.not to be rude, but im just wondering how u can get a band 6 for ext 2 english but not adv. I just do adv eng, but at least for maths, it is very unlikely for someone to e4 ext 1 math, and not get b6 in adv since the difficulty is so much easier for adv.
yeah i agree with @bruhmoment. but to add to that they assess totally diff skills as well. the easiest way to explain it is that e2 english is a major work that is creative whereas advanced is more focused on analysis and interpretation. its a bit deeper than that but i dont want to write an essay herenot to be rude, but im just wondering how u can get a band 6 for ext 2 english but not adv.
yea exactly, 4u can't really be even compared to adv, since 4u english doesn't even have a hsc exam.yeah i agree with @bruhmoment. but to add to that they assess totally diff skills as well. the easiest way to explain it is that e2 english is a major work that is creative whereas advanced is more focused on analysis and interpretation. its a bit deeper than that but i dont want to write an essay here
e1 eng in my opinion is closer to adv than e2 in terms of how the course content looks so i find that there is more of a correlation between e1 and adv marks in english than e2 and the other 2 but again thats dependent on effort put into the course.
