definately, a percentage in the high 70s is probably enought to get a band 6

y is it such low marks ie 65+/84 to get low band 6

i would have thought that a 72+/84 would just get you in?

The cut-off marks depend on the toughness of the exam and the quality of the candidature. Usually, the cut-off is around the mid 60s/84 to get a band E4 in extension maths.

*sigh..............there was the exact same discussion in the 4u forums......

Like people have said, the exact number depends on the difficulty but having said that getting a raw mark of 70 something will probably definately get you an low E4 unless the test that year is rediculously easy.

Having said that though, does it really matter? I mean besides the impending sense of dread associated with the knowledge that your 69 means that you missed out on an E4 by 1 mark?

Are you guys sure that it's that high... I mean I'd imagine it would be something along those lines for an E4 but on the other hand, when Laz got his raw marks back in 2001 and a 56/84 aligned to 46/50 (which I believe is aligned TOO highly) but still I dont see how the aligning could be so different when the 2001 paper, which I thought was quite easy, was aligned so low.

The fact of the matter is... who cares what the cut off is. You should be doing everything you can to try and get the highest mark possible within your own capability. No one should be aiming for '70' or '65+', you have to aim for 84.... 'aim for the sky so you still fall above the tree tops'

yes i agree.

I'm going to agree with everyone who said that it all depends on how everyone goes on the exam. Also the UAI scailing depends on how well everyone in the course goes in their other subjects.

Roughly 60-70% raw should get you a band E3, but this varies as mentioned many times before.
